Alongside your studies you'll gain a variety of opportunities designed to benefit you and the employer too. You can expect to be deeply involved in on-the-job training, industry placements, masterclasses, live briefs, projects and events – improving essential skills along the way. So when it comes to that all important interview you’ll be the one with a great story to tell.

• On-the-job Training

  At West Herts College we have a fresh approach to on-the-job training aimed at getting you the skills, confidence and contacts required to land that great first job. You'll target the skills you need for success in ways which suit you and the employer, meaning you'll be busy every time you go to work and can expect to be completely involved in projects and tasks.

  Work experience should be an adventure wherever you go, and we’re here to help you get as much as possible out of your time so that you stand out from the crowd.

• Industry Placements

  Industry Placements are a new initiative designed to give you a head start finding the future you want. 

  Industry Placements take on-the-job training to the next level, aligned with your chosen career path an Industry Placement includes around 45 days of on-the-job experience. Take a big stride towards your career goals by launching in to an Industry Placement - focus your studies at college on a course that matches your ambitions, all the while honing your workplace skills.

• Masterclasses

  Right throughout the year the college calendar is jam packed with a wide range of Masterclasses where you'll hear from successful figures from industry. Leading names from a wide range of sectors will provide you with an insight into their world and give you their top advice on how to follow in their footsteps. Expect to be involved in panel discussions, podcasts, workshops and much more.

• Live Briefs

  You are bursting with talent and ideas ready to provide creative solutions. With Live Briefs you will gain experience of pitching your ideas to meet a real client brief. Expect to work with clients to establish the brief, develop a solution, pitch your idea and recieve feedback. You'll get career ready at West Herts College with Live Briefs.
