Level 3 Fashion students at West Herts College were given a unique brief this summer - to transform Chiltern Railways' high-vis vests into something inspired by Harry Styles, ahead of his record-breaking Wembley Stadium residency.
Chiltern Railways, who operate Wembley Stadium Station, wanted to mark the 12-night run with something a bit different for their event staff. They asked students to rework the standard uniform into something that reflected the spirit of the concerts and the artist himself.
The students got to work reimagining the vests, taking inspiration from Harry Styles' bold looks and 1970s fashion. They added oversized collars and created their own colourful prints using cut paper shapes and heat transfer techniques, turning each piece into something completely individual.
The finished designs were worn by staff working across the station, helping thousands of fans travelling to and from Wembley each night. The vests added colour and energy to the station and proved a popular talking point with customers heading to the shows.
Rachel Evans, Special Events Manager at Chiltern Railways, said: "We are grateful to students at West Herts College who designed these wonderful and individualised vests for our event team at Wembley Stadium Station.
"Our event team and customers joined in vest modelling and photo momenets, helping to create a 'Golden' atmosphere under the Wembley arches".
Kathryn Harrold, Employer Partnership Manager at West Herts College, said: "Working with Chiltern Railways has given our students a reali insight into what it's like to deliver for a live brief. They've been able to use their creativity in a practical way and see their work out in the real world, which is a huge boost to their confidence".
Projects like this give students the chance to build their skills, grow their portfolios and experience what working in the fashion industry is really like.
