With a twin focus on cabin crew and aviation operations skills, gain essential insights into what’s required to work for an airline or on the ground at an airport.

  • Entry Criteria

    3 GCSEs (A*–D/9-3) or successful completion of the Level 1 programme.

  • What will I study?

    City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Air Cabin Crew includes:


    • Airline health, safety and security - gain a thorough understanding of a range of legislation related to the activities that airlines adhere to and how they maintain health, safety and security in a confined environment


    • Airline emergency procedures - learn how to respond to various planned and unplanned emergencies on-board an aircraft including the operation of emergency equipment


    • Roles of air cabin crew on board - develop the necessary knowledge of the on-board role of cabin crew. Learn how to prepare the cabin for boarding, deal with passengers with special requirements, carry out a professional in-flight service, make effective passenger announcements and complete the necessary documentation required for a flight


    • Airport check-in - understand the different roles that staff have to undertake when checking-in passengers. Learn the safety and security checks necessary to board a plane and how to deal with customer enquires in a professional manor


    • Aircraft dispatch process


    • Supporting flight operations


    NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Aviation Operations on the Ground includes:


    • Aviation communications
    • Airport check in, boarding, baggage and arrival services and facilities
    • Aircraft dispatch process - The necessary steps required prior to takeoff
    • Supporting flight operations


    Visits to Monarch airlines and specialist workshops such as water survival techniques and fire handling demonstrations provide you with additional skills.

  • Future Prospects

    You can continue your study with the Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Operations or the Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism. You will also be suitably trained for jobs with a travel agent or tour operator as well as working for a hotel or airline in a customer service role.
