  • Entry Criteria

    4 GCSEs (A*-C/9-4) including science and either English or maths.

    You will need to complete a DBS check.

  • What will I study?

    Modules could include:

    • Human lifespan development - explore physical, intellectual, emotional and social development across the human lifespan, and the factors affecting development and the effects of ageing
    • Meeting individual care and support needs - establish the principles and practicalities that underpin meeting individuals’ care and support needs, which are the foundation of all the care disciplines
    • Promoting public health - explore the aims of public health policy and the current approaches to promoting and protecting health and encouraging behaviour change in the population
    • Biomedical science - establish the extensive role biomedical scientists play in providing evidence for the causes of diseases, enabling other health workers to offer suitable treatment
    • Complimentary therapies - learn a range of complementary therapies, their potential benefits and role in maintaining health and wellbeing
    • Scientific techniques for health science - study a range of laboratory skills, including analysis of samples and microscope use to understand changes in cell features and aseptic prevention of cross-contamination
    • Understanding mental wellbeing - explore the nature of and strategies to promote mental wellbeing and mental health, and the impact of mental ill health on individuals
    • Nutritional health - understand concepts of nutritional health and influences on dietary intake, and learn how to assess and improve health through nutrition plans for individuals
    • Health psychology - explore the application of psychology in the study of health-related behaviours, contemporary issues in health psychology, and models of stress and stress management
