Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments
Introduction
Beauty therapy is a career that could take you right around the world. This course covers all aspects of beauty therapy with a strong science and management emphasis – developing your skills so you can progress further with your studies or work towards a management position in the industry.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, and client care. You will also develop a range of technical skills in preparing the skin, and applying beauty therapy products and electrical equipment to the skin, using a variety of different techniques, as well as interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Entry Criteria
Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent.
Don't meet the grades? Take a look at Level 2 Beauty Therapy for a solid understanding of key areas - you will be able to progress to the Level 3 upon successful completion.
You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.

What will I study?
You’ll study a range of specialist subjects including:

Specialised electrical body and face treatments - provide electrical treatments for clients, treating the face, neck and décolleté to improve the skin or figure and reduction of tension.

Monitoring procedures in the salon - develop the supervisory skills to be able to manage a safe and hygienic work environment.

Contributing to the planning of a promotional event - work with others to plan, implement and evaluate promotional activities, competently present information and interact with the public.

Swedish massage and mechanical massage - develop the underpinning theory knowledge and understanding associated with the history, the origins, the philosophy and the role of massage therapies and other massage traditions.

Indian head massage - develop the knowledge and skills required to prepare for and provide a professional Indian head massage.

Body and skin analysis - part of a professional body therapy treatment where the therapist studies and assesses the client’s posture, figure, muscle tone, skin condition and BMI.

Epilation - prepare for and provide a professional electrical epilation treatment.
Trips to trade fairs and exhibitions will broaden your understanding of the latest techniques including stone therapy. At College, team up with Fashion and Level 3 Hairdressing students to provide beauty services at their end of year shows.
Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

This course is an essential foundation for a professional beauty career – opening the door to work in a spa, resort or cruise ship, or as a sales representative or equipment/product trainer. It’s also an essential stepping stone for further study if you have your eye on a management career, or teaching.
