Students who choose to combine English Literature and English language at A Level can expect to focus on the integration of language and literature; exploring how linguistic and literary methods are related.

  • Entry Criteria

    You’ll choose three A Levels and will need 5 GCSE grades (9-4) including grade 4 Maths and 5 in English.

  • What will I study?

    You will study:

    • Telling Stories - remembered places, imagined words, poetic voices and methods of language analysis
    • Exploring conflicts - writing about society, critical commentary, dramatic encounters
    • Making connections - explores a specific technique or theme in both literary and non-literary discourse
  • Future Prospects

    English Language and Literature is an interesting and challenging A Level as well as being excellent preparation for university and your future career. Careers include law, digital and creative, PR, marketing, journalism, sales, teaching, management, administration, information management, publishing and the public services.
