Part Time Course code 7493

This course is suitable if you already know how to use a mouse and keyboard and have basic computer skills. Learn how to use Microsoft Word to create documents that include applying different text styles and sizes, as well as inserting images and saving your work. You will use the internet and email and get an overview of how to safeguard when working online. Also, you will learn how to use other programmes.

  • Entry Criteria

    Ideally students would have used a computer before and have basic computer skills.

  • What will I study?

    Topics include:

    • Navigating through the various windows of Microsoft Office
    • Learning how to use Microsoft Word to create documents that include applying different text styles and sizes, as well as inserting images, saving your work and managing your files
    • Understanding how to navigate through different programme
    • Using the internet to search for information and images, printing findings
    • Overview of social networking and how to safeguard when working online

    Course content may be slightly adapted depending on which tutor is teaching, and may also be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

    Please note – if you are studying at West Herts College, Watford or Hemel Hempstead campuses, the software used is Microsoft Office 2016. Other venues, including Hertfordshire Libraries are using Microsoft Office 2010.
