Meet Anton Rekaj, a graduate of the Foundation Degree in Computing Technologies, Networking and Cyber Security at West Herts College.
Anton chose this course as a natural progression from his previous Level 3 studies, combining his long-standing interest in technology with a new academic challenge. What started as an alternative option quickly became a key pathway in shaping his future career ambitions.
During the course, Anton developed a broad range of technical and professional skills, including network design and prototyping, database development using SQL, and hands-on experience with Cisco technologies such as routers, switching concepts and Packet Tracer. He also worked on more advanced projects, including VLAN networks and a multi-messaging network created as part of his second-year workplace project.
Graduation was a proud and rewarding milestone for Anton, who describes walking across the stage and receiving his diploma as one of his best memories. He now feels confident exploring different career opportunities within computing, knowing his skills are adaptable across a range of sectors.
Anton’s advice to others considering the same path is:
“All the effort is worth it. There are so many opportunities once you develop these skills
— just find the area that excites you and go for it.”
