Study at a higher level, one module at a time:
West Herts College approved for Lifelong Learning Entitlement

Adults across Hertfordshire will soon be able to study higher-level qualifications in smaller, more flexible chunks, after West Herts College was approved to deliver modular courses through the new Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE).

The LLE is a new way of funding study after school or college for young people and adults. It lets people take out finance for individual modules, not just full qualifications, so they can fit learning around work and family life.

Gill Worgan CBE, CEO of West Herts College Group, said: "This is a significant moment for the College and for adult education across Hertfordshire. For many adults, stepping away from work or committing to a full qualification isn't practical. Modular learning lets people build skills and qualifications at a pace that works for them, whether they want to progress in their current career, retrain for a new industry or return to education after many years."

Modular study is expected to help employers tackle skills shortages in key sectors, while letting people gain higher-level qualifications without putting their careers on hold.

"We know employers need highly skilled talent, and many adults want to keep learning as technology evolves, AI becomes part of everyday work and job roles change," Gill added. "This new approach gives people greater control over how and when they learn."

Modular courses funded through the LLE will start from January 2027. The College will announce its updated higher education offer soon.
