Last week saw the unveiling of our Level 2 Art & Design sports inspired mural, commissioned by Laurance Haines School
Yasmin Moody contacted Kathryn Harrold, Head of Employer Liaison, to see if our Art & Design students could support with their live brief to create a colourful, sports inspired mural for their playground.
Given the school’s proximity to Watford Football Club, they wanted the mural to feature the club’s iconic crest. This gave our students an excellent opportunity and experience of working with a client on a real project. Every Level 2 student created a design for the mural and one winner out of 50 students was selected by the school.
Ali, who won the project, utilised a clever use of space, colour and considered how the primary school children would engage with it.Tom Paley, Lecturer in Art & Design said: “I’m very proud of all of my students for creating all of their designs as the quality of outcomes were outstanding. The variety of skills and designs that were entered were excellent.
It’s so important that our students continue to get live, client driven briefs as it helps to bridge the gap between education and employment.”Thank you to Yasmin from Laurance Haines School and Kathryn for facilitating this project, Wesley Hoedt and Mileta Rajović from Watford Football Club for the unveiling and of course Tom and his students for submitting fantastic work.
