Meet Max Nash, an alumnus of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aviation Operations.
Sparked by a lifelong interest in aviation, Max attended one of our open days to find out more about our travel courses. He realised, after speaking to the person who would end up being his tutor, that West Herts College was the place for him to learn and develop his skills for a career in industry.
Having a keen interest in aviation was only one part of Max’s enjoyment of the course. Learning more of the specific skills and attributes for success in the sector Max developed into a viable candidate for airport operations.
Since leaving college Max has gone onto work in several jobs in the aviation industry. He has worked on the ground at Luton Airport, both de-icing and as an ambulift driver for the passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) assistance company. He now works as cabin crew for EasyJet; as well as holding a Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) where he enjoys flying planes in his spare time.
Max says what he learnt at college was invaluable to his experience in industry. His advice for anyone looking to do the same is:
“If you are wanting to get into the industry, that’s brilliant! It is extremely rewarding, inside the airport and your company is a whole little community of people. It’s not for the faint hearted, it’s a pretty bonkers industry to be in. But it’s brilliant. Every day is different. Best of luck!”
