Meet Sarah Hayden, a part-time student on the Simply Sewing Course.

Sarah, a sewing enthusiast, joined Simply Sewing with the goal of wanting to sew her own clothes. She says that Simply Sewing was the perfect place to get the help and encouragement she needed.

She appreciates the freedom at Simply Sewing to pursue her own sewing projects and receives help whenever needed. She finds inspiration in her classmates’ creations and enjoys the collaborative environment. A highlight for her was attending a sewing show in Islington with her classmates, where she returned with plenty of fabrics and new ideas, thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Through consistent practice, Sarah developed her sewing skills. She can now follow patterns, cuts fabric with precision, and sews garments well. Since starting the course, she can make coats, dressing gowns, pyjamas, blouses, dresses, and many cushions. Now reaching a point where she can create garments for her loved ones with confidence, "I love being able to make clothes for my loved ones".

The supportive atmosphere at Simply Sewing has been essential in Sarah's journey. She likes being surrounded by “likeminded people in a calm and motivating environment”, and credits her teacher, Emma Golding, for her growth.

Sarah highly recommends this course and her advice to anyone considering studying is that you only need a little bit of knowledge join and when you start the course “make something basic to begin with to encourage yourself and that will give you the confidence you need".
