Jay Williams, founder of the fastest growing streetwear brand in the UK, Hoodrich, delivers Industry Masterclass to Level 3 Business students for Global Entrepreneurship Week.

As part of the world’s largest celebration of the innovators, start-ups and job creators, Williams shared with students how he turned his passion for underground streetwear, coupled with his musical influence into a business.

Founding Hoodrich in 2014 with a £200 start up, Williams made his first 30 tees and grew Hoodrich from a bedroom, one-man venture into an international operation.

Explaining to students how he turned his dream into a working reality, Williams said: “What most people don’t realise, or underestimate is that, it takes hard work, diligence and consistency. One of the reasons why people give up and fail is simply that, they are not willing to put in the work.”

Williams continued with his top tips on how to succeed: “1. Do your research and understand your audience. Understand that your product is not for everyone, and everyone is not for your product. 2. Be authentic. Think about what makes your product unique and separates you from other competitors. 3. Do not be afraid to share content with the world. Put out daily content on trending social media platforms like TikTok.”

Head of Business Edith Amoah said: “Jay has provided our students with a real insight into what it takes to be a successful Entrepreneur, highlighting the true hard work, dedication and consistency it takes to make a start-up succeed. It has been a great GAP opportunity for our students to hear directly from the founder of the UK’s fastest growing streetwear brand and we thank Jay for hosting this Masterclass and taking his time to share his knowledge and expertise with the next generation.”
