Students at West Herts College's Watford and Hemel campuses marked the end of the academic year with a series of End of Year Celebration events, this year themed around culture and identity.
The celebrations gave students the chance to look back on a year of hard work and achievement, and to do it in style. Across both campuses, students got henna designs and manicures, made friendship bracelets, decorated the campus to reflect cultures from across their communities, and added pins to a giant Culture World Map. There was even a round of mini golf for good measure.
Food played a big part too, with candy floss and cupcakes on offer alongside a canteen menu chosen by students themselves, showcasing dishes from cultures represented across the college. Students were also invited to add a track to the college's Spotify playlist and come dressed in cultural attire - including, with the World Cup this summer, a fair few football shirts.
Sabrina Barry, Head of Student Experience at West Herts College Group, said: "Our End of Year Celebration was the perfect opportunity for our students to look back on what they've achieved, and enjoy celebrating their cultures together through art, food, language and music. It brought to life the best parts of our Personal Development programme: community, confidence and wellbeing. It was amazing to see so many students come together and just enjoy the moment, celebrating all their successes."
The events are part of West Herts College's Personal Development programme, which runs alongside every course to help students build confidence, make friends, manage pressure and develop the skills they need for life after college. It's part of a wider approach at West Herts, where support for students goes beyond the classroom — helping young people take control of their wellbeing and feel ready for their next step.
