Entry Criteria
3 GCSEs (A*-D/9-3) or successful completion of Level 1 programme.

What will I study?
The course examines sports performance and the sports industry:
• Fitness for sport - explore the components of physical and skill-related fitness and the principles of training.
• Practical sports performance - investigate the rules and regulations of a sport and apply the knowledge gained through observing officials in action.
• The mind and sports performance – explore how personality can influence choice of sport, and performance in sport.
• Training for personal fitness - design a personal fitness training programme, where you can select any appropriate methods of training to improve or maintain fitness levels safely.
• Anatomy and physiology - look at the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems and explore how they function normally.
• Carrying out a sports-related project - design original and effective plans that improve the quality of others’ involvement in healthy, active lifestyles through a sport project. -
Future Prospects
You’ll gain the skills you need to find work or progress your studies to a higher level. Alternatively, you can start work straight away in the leisure industry – in sports coaching or as a sports assistant, for instance.
