This course consists of practical & theory and associated with bricklaying. You will learn how to handle and store materials, work efficiently in a team, lay bricks and blocks, mix mortar and work place Health & Safety.

The course also gives out the skills to carry out basic technical drawing, basic maintenance of tools & equipment, of basic structural repairs relating to brickwork.

  • Entry Criteria

    To enrol on a Level 1 Diploma, applicants should demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning and a commitment to developing the fundamental skills required for their chosen area of study. Typically, applicants will have:

    • Studied a GCSE programme or be able to demonstrate that they are working at or towards Level 1.

    Applicants without formal qualifications may be invited to complete an initial assessment in English and maths to determine the most suitable level of study.

  • What will I study?

    This Level 1 Diploma is a foundation qualification, giving you the underpinning knowledge you need to prepare you for further study or work in this booming industry. The course is workshop and classroom based.

    You will study subjects including:
    • Carrying out Block paving activities
    • Carrying out Bricklaying activities
    • Carrying out Cavity Walling activities
    • Contribute to Setting Out and Building of Masonry
    • Structures up to Damp Proof Course

  • Future Prospects

    Successfully complete this course and you can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork.
