4 GCSEs (A*-C/4-9) including English and maths, or a Level 2 diploma in IT.
Don't meet the grades? Take a look at the Level 2 Diploma in Level 2 Diploma in Information and Creative Technology for a solid understanding of key areas - you will be able to progress to the Level 3 upon successful completion.

Core Content
Within the core content of this course you will develop a general understanding of computing including:
- Computer science
- Computer systems
- IT systems security and encryption

Specialism Content
In addition to the core content, in your second year you will also undertake the sector specialism content for networking security and support, including:
- Relational database development
- Managing and supporting systems
- Systems analysis and design

Future Prospects
Successful students can progress into work in Networking Systems or in Technical Support.
Further study options include a Foundation degree in a related field with a specialism – either here at West Herts College or at university. Over 80% of our students progress to university to study a BA/BSc (Hons) degree.
