Prepare yourself for working with children from birth to five years of age, with knowledge of children up to seven, helping with their development and growth. This course prepares you for continuing your studies here at College or moving further afield and into an apprenticeship or full-time work with children in a range of job roles. It is suitable for anyone who wants to work with young children, and will cover all aspects of working with children from birth to the age of five years.

Entry Criteria
3 GCSEs grade 9-3 including English language, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme. You will need to complete a DBS check.

What will I study?
You will study a range of subjects including:
• Child development - identify the transition of language and communication, physical, social, emotional and behavioural development
• Play and activities - gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required to contribute to enabling play environments
• Safeguarding and professional development - support the safeguarding, protection and welfare of children from birth to 7 years
• 250 hours work-placement -
Future Prospects
As well as being a qualification in its own right, after achieving the Level 2 you can choose to progress to the Level 3 Health and Social Care which will give you a licence to work within the sector. Future career prospects involve working in early years settings such as nurseries or preschools.
