This course is an introduction to teaching for those who would like to, work or currently work, within FE colleges, independent training providers and/or local authorities. You will gain the skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions in a variety of teaching or training contexts.

  • Entry Criteria

    GCSE English (4/C) or above or equivalent (obtained or working towards) and a minimum Level 3 qualification in the subject that you wish to teach.

    Trainees must also demonstrate that they have competence in English, Maths and IT, or are working towards demonstrating their competence. Advice will be given at interview. All applicants must be 19 years of age as at 31 August.

  • What will I study?

    The Level 3 Award in Education and Training has been designed as the appropriate introductory qualification for those seeking a stepping stone to qualifications that enable them to teach in either an Associate Teacher or Full Teacher role* in the Lifelong Learning Sector in England. It is particularly suited to candidates who have at least a Level 3 qualification in the subject they want to teach to students aged 16 and over.

    You will gain an understanding of:

    Your own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching Appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area Session planning skills and demonstration of those skills How to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners Use of different assessment methods and feedback to learners The need for record keeping
