  • Entry Criteria

    o Experience of gym-based exercise (including free weights) is recommended. o A good level of physical fitness (the course is physically demanding). o Basic communication skills (discussion, reading, writing, presenting) at Level 2 standard.

  • What will I study?

    Learners will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical coaching skills, covering:
    • Anatomy and physiology, and their relationship to health, fitness, and physical activity.
    • Nutrition and healthy lifestyle principles (including stress management).
    • Components of fitness and the principles of training.
    • Legal and professional requirements in fitness coaching.
    • Safe planning, delivery and supervision of exercise programmes in gym/health club environments.
    • Supporting client behaviour change and exercise adherence.
    • Conducting health screenings, assessments, and goal setting.
    • Delivering safe and effective exercise to individuals and small groups.
    • Using IT within the leisure and fitness industry.
    • Setting up, taking down and storing equipment safely.
    • Professionalism, personal development, and customer service excellence.
