This qualification will provide you with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or specialist schools. You will learn about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication. This course is suitable for teaching or learning support assistants in a school role or newly in post.   • Entry Criteria

    There are no formal entry qualifications. However, the following are recommended:


    • At least 16 years old
    • GCSE English (minimum D-G grades) or an equivalent Level 1
    • At least 6 months prior experience of working 2 full days a week in a school (Reception class upwards)
    • A reference from an employer or professional person to recommend you for this course
    • Confirmation of a placement within a school (Reception class upwards) for at least 2 full days a week throughout the duration of the course
    • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
