Extended Degree Science – Biomedical and Healthcare Science is a one-year programme to prepare you for university. This course focuses on teaching you the fundamentals of applied science in your chosen Biomedical and Healthcare Science specialism, allowing you to develop your understanding and helping you reach an exciting range of innovative career paths.

The course is designed as a preparatory year enabling you to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills you need to progress to the first year of a University of Hertfordshire undergraduate degree. After working in our industry-standard lab you’ll be prepared to step on to a full degree in your chosen discipline.

We have a range of high-level, specialist facilities including a UV visible spectrophotometer, DNA PCR machine and a gel electrophoresis analysis kit. In addition to this we have a state-of-the-art Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) allowing you to carry out industry specific practical’s.

The Hertfordshire Higher Education Consortium is a partnership between the University of Hertfordshire and four colleges: Hertford Regional College, North Hertfordshire College, Oaklands College and West Herts College.
