Job description Person specification

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic IT Services team as a Support Engineer. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality deskside and remote support to both staff and students across our three campuses: Watford, Hemel Hempstead, and Luton.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide deskside and remote technical support across all West Herts College sites.
  • Participate in a rota to manage incoming Service Desk calls, with occasional ad-hoc remote support from home.
  • Support a wide range of devices including PCs, Macs, mobile devices (iOS/Android), and multifunction printers.
  • Assist with systems and services used by both staff and students.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Active Directory accounts and basic networking issues.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in supporting PC, Mac, iOS, and Android platforms.
  • Familiarity with multifunction printers, Active Directory, and basic networking principles.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach to IT support.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality support services to a diverse user base.

We are looking for someone with a collaborative mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for improving services and solutions that support teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, willing to contribute ideas, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. While prior knowledge of college-specific systems is not essential, the ability to quickly learn and support new technologies is key.

A passion for continuous learning and professional development is highly valued, and you will be encouraged to upskill as part of our commitment to staff growth.

You will be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, with opportunities to contribute ideas and shape service delivery. We are committed to staff development and offer ongoing training to help you grow your skills and advance your career.
