As part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, our campus came alive with a surprise flash mob performance from Electric Umbrella. The event was part of a national campaign using music to promote inclusion, celebrate difference, and stand firmly against hate.
Foundation Studies students were at the heart of the performance, joining in with enthusiasm while their peers from other courses watched and cheered them on.
Students shared their excitement after taking part:
“I thought it was fantastic, the music was fun!”
“The message is good because it tells people it’s okay to be different.”
“I had the best time ever!”
The performance highlighted the campaign’s anthem, 'It’s Not a Crime to Be Different', a call to action for communities across the UK to promote respect, kindness, and equality.
By taking part in this national movement, our college community helped amplify a message that reaches beyond our campus showing that everyone can play a role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
