General Enrolment FAQs

• What is enrolment?
  Enrolment is the process that confirms your place at West Herts College. During enrolment you will confirm what course you will be taking and at what level. Enrolling at college is the last step in your application process, once you’ve completed your enrolment, you will then be a West Herts College student.

• When can I enrol?
  Enrolment commences from GCSE results day onwards (Thursday 20 August), we’ll be in touch by post and email with more information to those who have applied.

• How can I enrol?
  It will depend on where you are in our application process. Click here to enter our enrolment hub. Just select the tile that applies to you and find out how you can enrol. 

• I have an offer but I have not received any enrolment information, what do I do?

• How many courses can I enrol on?
  You can only enrol on one study programme. The A Level study programme includes 3 A Level courses, for all other study programmes you can only enrol on one course. When you enrol you need to choose your preferred option. 

• Can I change my course?
  Yes, it is not too late. Browse our courses here and apply online. Then drop into campus from GCSE results day (Thursday 20 August) to enrol. You can complete your college application and enrolment on the same day - securing your place in one visit.

Offer Holder Enrolment FAQs

• How long does the online enrolment form take?
  If you have an offer on a course, you will be emailed a link to your online pre-enrolment form on Monday 10 August. You can complete the enrolment form in as quick as 20 minutes. 

• Is there a deadline for completing the online pre-enrolment form?
  If you have an offer on a course, you will be emailed a link to your online pre-enrolment form on Monday 10 August . Please complete this form by Monday 17 August to confirm your acceptance of your offer.

• What do I need to complete my online pre-enrolment form?

  Please have the following ready to upload to your enrolment form:

  • Photo ID (a photo or scan is accepted)
  • A portrait photo of you for your Student ID badge

• What is an on-campus enrolment session?
  If you have an offer on a course, you will be invited to an on-campus enrolment session before the start of term to finalise your enrolment. In this session you will meet your tutors, learn about your timetable and collect your ID badge. You will receive the date and time of your on-campus enrolment session in your joining pack.

  This session lasts 1-2 hours, parents/carers are welcome to wait on site. 

• What do I need to bring to my on-campus enrolment session?
   

  Please bring the following with you to your on-campus enrolment session:

  • Results and certificates (digital copies are accepted)
  • Photo ID (if you’re not a British national you’ll need residency documents)
  • Any other supporting information (e.g. EHCP)

   

• What should I do if I can't make my on-campus enrolment session?
  If you're unable to make your on-campus enrolment session please contact our Admissions team on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 01923 812345 to let us know as soon as possible.

  It is important you still complete your online pre-enrolment form to confirm your acceptance of your offer. If you do not complete your online pre-enrolment form and do not notify us that you can not attend your on-campus enrolment session we will assume you are no longer interested and your place will be released.

Start Of Term FAQs

• When will I receive my timetable?

  Term starts from Thursday 3 September 2026, your first day and timetable will be released to you after you have completed your enrolment and group details are finalised.

  Depending on your course timetable, your first day will be one of the following Thursday 3, Friday 4, Monday 7, Tuesday 8 or Wednesday 9 September.

   

• When will I receive my ID card?
  You’ll receive your ID badge when you attend drop-in enrolment or your on-campus enrolment session, for returning students new badges will be available for collection on your first day back. 

• Is there any financial support available at college?
  Yes, our Learner Support Fund is available to help with costs associated to coming to college. If your household income is less than £45,001 you will be eligible to access financial support to help with:

  • Travel costs
  • Kit & equipment
  • Free meals
  • Childcare

• Are there any kit & equipment requirements for my course?
  For some of our courses such as those within Art & Design, Construction & Engineering, Food Academy and Hair & Beauty there are some kit and equipment requirements you will need to order for the start of term.

• What is a DBS check?
  If you are enrolling on Level 2 Early Years Education, T Level Education and Early Years or Level 3 Health and Social Care, you are required to undertake an Industry Placement as part of your course. To attend this Industry Placement you will require a criminal record check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
