Live events production offers you the chance to build a career in an exciting practical industry where you can take part in management, design and development of a variety of live events across Music, Film, TV and Theatre.

There are countless careers to choose from. To succeed you’ll need to be technically competent, possess an artistic sense and understand how your role fits into the wider production team.

You'll lead an active career and could be working at large venues or at live events, creative productions and festivals.

  • Entry Criteria

    4 GCSEs (9-4) including English language, or a relevant Level 2 Diploma.

  • What will I study?

    Join us and learn by completing technical theatre projects and assignments based on real-life working situations, activities and demands.

    You’ll work alongside performance, film & tv and music students, staging productions in-house and externally at venues across the community. On campus, in Watford, we have everything you need to bring your creativity to life. Alongside our fully-equipped theatre space, there’s a green room, plus costume stores and dance studios.

    You’ll study the following mandatory units:
    • Key technical understanding of lighting, sound, stage, construction and multi-media
    • Key design skills while working with lighting, sound, sets and props
    • Event management
    • Production management
    • Production for stage

    As well as being able to choose from a wide range of optional units, including:
    • Arts in the community
    • Stage management
    • Stage lighting design
    • Stage model making
    • Working freelance in the performing and production arts

    You will study towards the Level 3 Diploma (90 credits) in your first year, and progress on to the Extended Diploma (180 credits) in your second year.

  • Future Prospects

    HND, Foundation or Honours degree in related subjects such as stage management, set design, lighting design, events management and more. Possible careers include assistant stage management, technical operators, crew plus many more relevant career opportunities.
