Job description

Make a lasting difference by empowering learners with SEND to succeed.

Are you passionate about inclusive education and supporting learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the expertise and drive to help students overcome barriers, build independence, and achieve their goals?

We’re looking for skilled and proactive Specialist Learning Support Assistants to join our SEND team. This is a key role within our inclusive provision, working in partnership with curriculum staff to deliver high-quality, responsive support that enables learners to access and thrive in their education.

As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will provide targeted, specialist support through one-to-one and small group interventions, while contributing to the wider development of inclusive practice across the College. You will contribute to staff development, share expertise, and support quality assurance processes through evidence-based practice.

This is a varied and impactful role. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to develop study skills, independence and confidence
  • Supporting learners with a range of SEND needs, including those with EHCPs
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt teaching approaches and learning materials
  • Promoting inclusive learning strategies and the effective use of assistive technologies
  • Monitoring learner progress, attendance and engagement, using data to inform interventions
  • Supporting transition processes, including school liaison, taster sessions and learner assessments
  • Providing specialist advice, guidance and training to staff to promote inclusive practice
  • Contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement of SEND provision

We’re looking for someone who combines specialist knowledge with a collaborative and learner-centred approach. You’ll be confident working independently and as part of a wider team, with the ability to influence inclusive practice across the College.

You will bring:

  • Experience supporting people with SEN and knowledge of SEND support strategies
  • Experience delivering targeted interventions and promoting learner independence
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, reflective and solutions-focused approach
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for learners

There are multiple roles available supporting provision across our campuses in Luton, Watford and Hemel Hempstead. You can be based at any of these sites, with some travel required.

If you’re ready to bring your expertise and passion to a role where you can truly make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 12th July 2026.
