Job description Person specification

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the School of Science & Public Services for a full-time lecturer. This role is perfectly suited for an enthusiastic and flexible person.

We have an exciting opportunity within the department, where we need a dynamic and passionate person to join our forward-thinking team, teaching on our new Level 3 Criminology with Public Services course from September 2026.

The successful candidate will join a strong team within a large, high functioning department. There are a range of modules available to teach across the WJEC L3 Applied Diploma in Criminology and the BTEC L3 Foundation Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services, including exam-based units and coursework: Criminological Theories and Changing Awareness of Crime, Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services, Citizenship and Diversity, Sociological Perspectives and Research Skills in Uniformed Protective Services.

You will have an ability to promote, support and embed English and Maths skills within planning and delivery of all teaching. You should also be committed to providing prompt, detailed assessment of student work with experience of personal tutoring including target setting.

Teaching experience and/or Criminology and/or Uniformed Protective Services background would be desirable although we are keen to hear from anyone with the right skills.

We offer a supportive culture which offers excellent CPD opportunities.

This is a full-time role working at both Watford and Hemel Hempstead Campus. The closing date for applications is Monday 6th July 2026. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 15th July 2026
