West Herts Golf Club Competition Winner Revealed!
Over the last 6 months, our Level 3 Hospitality and Events Management students have been competing in a competition for West Herts Golf Club.
Students had to produce a business plan aimed to improve utilisation of the golf club's clubhouse and, in particular, catering and bar services during the months of November to February. In these winter months, fewer rounds of golf are played, resulting in fewer visitors. It is therefore important for the club to devise a strategy to improve use of the clubhouse over the winter months.
Upon completion of their business plans, groups presented their ideas to a panel of judges on Thursday 20 April. Students were judged on how well they met the original brief, the research into the plan, the quality of the business plan, and how well they presented their ideas.
After serious consideration, the judges recently came to a decision, and we are delighted to announce that the winner is…
As well as winning a cash prize of £300, Zoe’s business plan ideas will be introduced to the club this winter.
Runners up were Kirsten Parker and Katie Savell, winning a joint prize of £125, and Ines Pereira Ferreira winning £125.
General Manager Jonathan Kaltner, and club Chairman Keith Stafford (pictured above) visited the College to present their prizes.
Winner, Zoe Winter said, “I still can’t believe I won! I’m looking forward to seeing some of my ideas used at the club this year! This competition has been a great experience. At times it was very hard, but I also had lots of fun, and it’s helped me grow in confidence”.
Huge congratulations to Zoe, and all students involved – what a great achievement!
