West Herts College Graduation 2016

Higher Education students celebrated success at their graduation last week.

The ceremony took place on Friday 23 September at the Weston Auditorium at the University of Hertfordshire’s de Havilland campus, with just shy of 200 HE students attending and the rest of the 440 seat auditorium filled with supportive family and friends.

The College’s Foundation degrees are validated by the University of Hertfordshire, and HE programmes also include HNDs and industry-accredited qualifications such as CIPD diplomas.

Proceedings commenced with the College’s Director of Higher Level Learning Scott Isaacs, before members of the West Herts College Choir provided a musical interlude.

College Principal and Chief Executive Gill Worgan gave the main address, saying: “Don’t underestimate what you have achieved, today represents a life changing moment. It’s always very special to us whenever our students graduate – we are hugely proud of you, and we wish you every success for the future. This is your day, your special occasion, and we are delighted to be sharing it with you.”

The Class of 2016 comprised of graduates in courses from an array of sectors, including Art and Design, Business and Computing, Sport, Travel and Creative Enterprise. The awards were presented by Scott Isaacs and Sal Jarvis, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience at the University of Hertfordshire.

Favour Adewuyi, who graduated with a HND in Health and Social care, said: “My two years at West Herts College were the most enjoyable learning experience I have ever had. The teachers are accessible, and the support services both academically and personally were fantastic.”

Once everyone had received their awards Scott Isaacs returned to the stage to congratulate the Class of 2016, encouraging family and friends to do the same. The graduates then returned the gesture, with a rousing round of applause to thank their loved ones for their support.
