Watford band Rak-Su are crowned X-Factor champions
Watford-based band Rak-Su, have been crowned this year’s X-Factor winners, beating singer Grace Davies in the final. Two former West Herts College students, Mustafa Rahimtulla and Myles Stephenson, are members of the band. They have been favourites to win throughout with a number of their songs charting on iTunes, including their winning track, ‘Dimelo’, which reached number one.
Mustafa displayed his natural ability during his time at College when he won the ‘West Herts College Has Got Talent Competition’ as one half of dance act, ‘Rikoshay and Pharohcious’. Mustafa performed in front of an audience of 200 to take home the £200 prize in 2011. The boys were good students whilst at college and were clearly multi-talented.
Myles and Mustafa are great role models, and they show local aspiring artists what can be achieved if you put your mind to something. The support for Rak-Su during the live shows was incredible, particularly when they performed at the Watford game before the final.
The band’s mentor, Simon Cowell, was hugely impressed by the attitude of the boys and said: “There’s an awful lot of artists in entertainment who appear nice in front of the cameras but behind them they’re monsters. These guys aren’t like that.” He added: “Rak-Su have become an inspiration.”
We’d like to say a huge congratulations to the boys, and we wish them the best of luck in the future!
