VolkerFitzpatrick to sponsor new civil engineering workshop
West Herts College and VolkerFitzpatrick are developing a partnership, which will see the civil engineering company provide sponsorship of the brand new civil engineering workshop at the College’s Kings Langley campus. The partnership will help bring the classroom to life with training facilities suitable to prepare students for a career in civil engineering.
The partnership began with two Engineering students, Harry and Henry, being shown around the new Watford health campus site by representatives of VolkerFitzpatrick. The students visited the site several times to find out about different disciplines of engineering and business, including earthworks and structures as well as management and finance.
Tenniel Souter, site agent at VolkerFitzpatrick was impressed by the two students: “The boys were really receptive to understanding the science of the industry, they asked pertinent questions, this was excellent to hear.”
Associate Director of Curriculum and Head of School for Engineering, John McMahon is excited about the prospects that this partnership can present to students: “This new course is very exciting for our students and new applicants to the college, we will be working with one of the industry leaders to provide industry standard education and training. Hopefully this partnership can grow and lead to more opportunities for our students.”
