The British Armed Forces hold workshop for Public Services students
Soldiers from the British Armed Forces visited Public Services students to talk about life in the army.
The soldiers gave a presentation talking about their experiences, whilst informing students about the different career options available to them within the army.
Public Services student Harry Denton said: “I’ve learnt so much about the different kinds of roles within the army, there is so much more to it than frontline combat. It has just been really great to hear about the experiences of the soldiers.”
The soldiers explained the different roles open to people in the army including Combat, Engineering, HR, Finance and Support, Intelligence, Communications and IT, Medical, Logistics and Music.
Public Services tutor Luke Harvey said: “They have shown our students the doors which are open to them within the Army. The informative and engaging presentation provided a great glimpse into the different roles in which our students can progress.”
The soldiers further held a workshop consisting of four tasks including an equipment demonstration, a problem solving task, and two team building tasks. Each task taught students the essential skills necessary for army working in the armed forces.
Luke Harvey continued: “The armed forces workshop was a complete success at developing our students skills in teamwork and communication. They gave our students a real insight into how the armed forces work as a team to problem solve and improvise to overcome obstacles.”
