Students raise a huge £1,400 for Watford Mencap!
Our Level 3 Hospitality and Event Management students recently organised a Mad Hatter’s dinner party, raising an amazing £1,400 for Watford Mencap!
As part of their final year assignment, students were tasked to organise and run a charity themed event.
In order to pass the assignment, students had to demonstrate the following:
- Produce proposals
- Liaise with the chosen charity
- Design and sell tickets
- Design menus and promotional materials
- Decorate the venue
- Organise raffle prizes
- Secure entertainment
The night was a huge success, with guests enjoying a 3 course ‘Mad Hatter’ themed menu, while enjoying entertainment from singer Kayla Lilley.
Amanda Jenshil, Community Fundraiser for Watford Mencap, was delighted with how the night went: “I was very impressed with the professional and creative ideas the students came up with. The students went above and beyond and made the event one to remember.
Through our partnership with West Herts College, we are able to introduce many young people to the work Watford Mencap do locally for people with learning disabilities. The students found their visit to our Children’s centre inspiring, and it was great that they could see why they were raising money for us.
The money raised by the students will help fund a child with learning disabilities to attend our after school club based in Watford for over a year.”
A huge well done to all those involved!
