Student wins competition to perform at local festival
West Herts College student Jamie Hance has won the Beautiful Alice Festival local artist/band competition and will be performing live at the festival in St Albans on Saturday 3 June!
Jamie, who studies music at college, will play live on BBC Three Counties Radio on the morning of the festival, prior to performing as the opening act on the main stage at midday. Culminating in an evening set on the acoustic stage.
The competition was hosted on the Beautiful Alice Festival Facebook page, where local artists shared their profiles and music, and Jamie was crowned the winner after receiving the most likes.
Jamie said: “I’m really pleased with all the support I’ve received from everyone. All the likes and comments on Facebook were amazing and it’s a great feeling to know lots of people are listening to my music.
“I’ve never really won any competitions before, so to enter this one and go on to win it was absolutely crazy. I can’t stop smiling!
“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m very grateful that GAP informed me of the competition.”
GAP is West Herts College’s sector-leading work experience programme, where students team up with local employers to develop their transferable workplace skills and help them get ready for the world of work.
Festival organiser Kate Sinclair, said: “We loved Jamie from the first moment we heard his track. It was clear he had a great sound and something different about him!
“He's in for one heck of a day but hopefully it will be really exciting for him and will be great experience.”
