The College recently handed over control of its’ social media channels to the students as part of 'Student Takeover'. Five students added to their GAP Work experience hours by sharing their take on College life through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Anyone following the College on social media was in the privileged position of getting the inside scoop from the people who know the College best. We got all the behind the scenes action; from a pattern cutting class, a lighting workshop to getting a sneak peek of what it’s like to record an album.
As well as inviting us into their lessons, students were also given the opportunity to visit different courses. Chanelle Howard from Hospitality and Catering, sat in on a lighting workshop from Production Arts and learnt about what goes on behind the scenes when preparing for a performance.
Chanelle said: “I'd like to do it again as it’s been such a good experience and great fun. I’ve loved being able to put my stamp on the College’s social media and seeing what other students do as part of their course.”
Phoebe Salter from Production Arts also got involved with the lunchtime rush at the Restaurant and was able to watch some delicious cooking demonstrations.
It was a fantastic week and definitely gave us an insight into what our students get up to. Keep an eye next term for more Student Takeover action!
