SkillELECTRIC: The Results

Elliott France and Ryan Bunce, two Electrical Installation apprentices from our Kings Langley campus, attended the regional heat of the SkillELECTRIC competition, held at Chichester College.

The day began with a clear and informative briefing for all contestants, to ensure they were fully aware of what was required of them, followed by a trade-specific briefing in their competition areas. All contestants were supplied with relevant information and materials in order to complete their task, which was to be performed within a set timescale. At the end of the allocated time the marking was completed to pre-set criteria, then the top three competitors were selected by the judges (who had observed the activities throughout the day).

An awards ceremony was conducted at the end of the day, where gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to the successful candidates who qualify to compete at the national final at the NEC Birmingham in November.

The event was an interesting and enjoyable day of competition across numerous trades within the construction industry, with many apprentices keenly applying themselves to their chosen trade. Both Elliot and Ryan missed out on a place at the finals but were commended, and their hard work was recognised with certificates of excellence. Congratulations!
