Sarah - Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship
I am the Head of School for Hair & Beauty. As Head of School it’s my responsibility to ensure that our curriculum offer meets the demands of employers locally and further afield, I work closely with our course tutors to make sure that we are delivering the latest industry trends in lessons to fully prepare our students for employment. It’s also my responsibility to manage the staff, resourcing and finances of the department, this also includes our fully functioning salon which is open to the public.
As Head of School, the flexibility of my apprenticeship alongside my job is something that’s really important. It allows me to balance my day-to-day responsibilities with studying to ensure that the college’s high standards are met whilst I continue to expand my knowledge and skills.
The theoretical concepts so far have been very broad looking at motivational techniques, human resources, accounting and finances; currently we are looking at the marketing and economic content. The practical unit has had me reflecting on my performance within my role, particularly looking at report writing and presentation skills.
Apprenticeships are great for progression and personal development, you’re not having to take time off work to study and getting a career focused qualification at the end of it. Want to know more about apprenticeships? Visit our apprenticeships page to find out more: https://bit.ly/2u2AIXo
