Steph Carter

HND Music Course Leader

After 14 years of playing guitar, I studied music production, songwriting, performance and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Creative Music Technology in 2007 from the University of Hull. One year prior to this I joined Gallows. In the band I wrote and released 3 critically acclaimed albums through 2 major record labels, toured the world and played alongside some of the best, including; Rage Against The Machine, Amy Winehouse, Cypress Hill, Ozzy Osbourne, tour managed the band, and even headlined various festival stages including Reading & Leeds. My love for creating music drives my constant and dedicated pursuit of all types of industry work including self-releasing two records I produced with my band ‘The Ghost Riders in the Sky.’ I am a Curriculum Developer at West Herts College.

Justin Phil-Ebosie

I have a BSc (Hons) in Music Technology, and a postgraduate certificate in education. I have professional experience in the music industry as I have written and produced music for major record labels such as A&M and Island Records. I have also enjoyed chart success in various parts of the world including the UK. I have been a Music Technology lecturer at West Herts College for many years. I find my job especially satisfying when I see former students becoming successful producers and musicians.

Alisdair Brown

Music and Music Technology Tutor

I gained my 1st class Bsc (Hons) Degree in Music Technology from Coventry University. After graduating I moved on to manage local recording studios and live events with a focus on developing up and coming young musicians and teaching Music Technology. Through this role I worked to develop music provision and opportunities for young bands and artists in the local area, as well as provide professional studio services for the local music scene. This lead to me completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Youth Work, Community learning and Development, before moving on to my current role at West Herts College teaching across the Music and Music Technology courses.

I’m a former West Herts College student who started on the Level 2 Music Technology course 5 years ago. I then progressed onto the Level 3 qualification and the HND qualification in Music during the 2016 – 2017 academic year. I’ve advanced onto studying a BA (Hons) in Music Technology at The London College of Music/ University of West London for a year to achieve a Degree as a Music Technology Specialist. I’m currently an hourly paid lecturer within the PMM department specialising in Music Technology. Upon completing the HND in Music I’ve ventured into freelance based work for a Stage Company who were responsible for the stage construction and load in & out of equipment for the Guns N Roses tour at the Olympic Stadium in June, last year.
