Jason Houlihan

I’m a multi-instrumentalist and former West Herts music student who achieved distinctions at Level 2 and 3. Since 2010 I have written music in a variety of genres and bands and touring the UK, Europe and playing a variety of festivals in the UK supporting bands such as Don Broco, Saving Aimee, Room 94, Enter Shikari, Twin Peaks, Lower Than Atlantis. I have also been session guitarists for artists such as Alex Clare, Luke Quinn, as well as assisting on tours with Tyler, the creator, Sneakbo, Kind Charles, Solange, Tyga, Liv Dawson and Tory Lanez. Working behind the scenes on tours in such differing genres has given me key insight in to employability across the industry. I am currently studying my MA at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in music tuition which is helping the department synthesise a variety of different pedagogies in to our delivery methods. Along side my current role I own a private teaching business specialising in vocals, guitar, keys and DAW skills.

Matt Bown

I am an experienced multi-instrumentalist who has been gigging and touring within the UK since 2015 with a variety of musical acts spanning a wide range of genres. In May 2022, I worked as a session musician for a band supporting ‘Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes’ and ‘Hot Milk’ at ‘Marshall Hootie’, an event celebrating 60 years of Marshall Amplification. I have performed on festival stages sharing bills with established acts such as Razorlight, Trash Boat, Mallory Knox, A, Milk Teeth, Gold Key and The Fratellis. I also perform with a band that has been featured on Sofar Sounds’ YouTube channel with footage from live performances recorded in London and Paris.

I then advanced onto studying and achieving a 1st class (Hons) Degree as a Music Technology Specialist at the University of West London.

Upon completing my degree, I’ve ventured into freelance based work for music and stage production companies, gaining portfolio credits from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Guns N Roses, and YouTubers like KingKennyTV from BetaSquad.

Paul Bond

I never forget how lucky I am to have been able to earn a living out of the music business in one way or another. I have toured the world at a very high level and have been lucky to play arenas, stadiums, and open-air festivals, as well as recording in some amazing studios around the world. I am a songwriter and produce and record acts from many different genres. Playing wise, these days I am a solo artists and also play guitar for Jeff Wayne (The War of The Worlds). I have spent over 30 years(!) as a touring technician and have worked with acts such as Cradle of Filth, Down, Trivium, Lacuna Coil, The Pretty Reckless, Iced Earth, Nevermore, Dillinger Escape Plan, Cannibal Corpse, Emerson Lake and Powell, Strapping Young Lad, Natalie Cole and The BBC Big Band to name a few. I really enjoy passing my knowledge down to the next generation of creators and technicians, having taught Audio Production at Masters Level, and am now overjoyed to be teaching audio production, live sound and instrumental skills at West Herts College. Let’s make some noise!
