Learner Support Fund 21/22

The College has financial support available to help students with the costs of coming to College. If your household income is less than £35,500 you could be eligible to access financial support.

The following guidelines are to help you complete the Learner Support Fund application.

Please note you will need your student ID number to complete the application, if you are unsure what this is please get in touch using the contacts above. You will also be required to provide evidence of household income (pay slips, benefit evidence etc.) – once you’ve submitted your application you will be sent instructions on how to provide your evidence. Who can apply?

Students aged 16 to 18 who are enrolled on a full-time course. If you are 19+ please discuss your eligibility with a Student Advisor by using the contact details above. If you are a looked after child or care leaver then please contact Student Support for support making your application.

What can you apply for?

If you or your parents/carers receive income related benefits or have a gross household income of £35,500 or less you may be eligible for help towards the following:

Students 16-18 years old: you will only need to complete the application form if you are applying for additional course costs, travel, trips, or kit and equipment, as you will not have to pay any tuition fees at enrolment.

How much will I get?

You may be eligible for up to 100% of your enrolment fees and travel costs and 90% of other course costs, depending on your income or if you are on a qualifying benefit.

If you are aged 16-25 we will consider your annual household income. If you are aged 25+ we will consider your household income independent from any parent/carers and will only include your personal income.

If you are required to purchase kit or equipment prior to the start of your course, you will need to provide proof of purchase/receipts. If you are requesting support with travel costs please note you will also need to apply for any relevant discount cards e.g. Herts Savercard/16+ Oyster card etc.

When will I find out if I have been awarded funding?

The College aims to process all applications within 10 working days of receiving a completed application form and supporting evidence.

The College expects good attendance throughout the year and your award will be affected if your attendance drops at any time; travel awards will be reduced for every full day absence.
