Kai Benton - Supported Internship with Glow In One
Foundation Studies student Kai Benton is completing his Supported Internship placement at Glow in One. Glow in One is a glow in the dark crazy golf centre situated in Watford town centre, with a cafe serving food and drink.
Within his role, Kai has many responsibilities, including supporting with various maintenance and upkeep tasks vital for Glow in One to operate. Kai is required to pull out all the stops to ensure that Glow in One is kept in immaculate condition, with this he has learnt a range of different skills he can use for the future.
As a keen sports fan, Kai is over the moon with his internship placement. He states: “My time at Glow in One is teaching me about the real working world and what's expected when I leave college. I'm learning heaps about maintenance and what's involved in keeping a busy public place well maintained.”
Glow in One manager, Craig, mentioned how thrilled he is with Kai’s development: “Kai has been a hard-working individual throughout his time at Glow In One, he’s always happy to undertake any tasks given and we’ve seen his confidence grow over time.”
A Supported Internship is specifically aimed at young people aged 16-24 who have a statement of special educational needs, a Learning Difficulty Assessment, or an Education Health and Care plan, who want to move into employment and need extra support to do so.
