Graphic Design students visited by BBC News' Design Director
BBC News' Design Director Paula Thompson visited West Herts College to give advice to Foundation Degree and Level 3 Graphic Design students.
She sat down with Foundation Degree students to give them feedback on their Creative Vocational Practice module, which focuses on building professional and creative skills in realising and presenting a project typical to the graphic design industry.
Paula, who is responsible for BBC News’ brand and provides creative direction and management for the motion design team, spoke with the students about their work so far, talking through their projects, creative practice, design skills and thought processes. She stated that she experienced “a feeling of optimism and energy” within the College, and that she enjoyed the opportunity to come in to College and work with the students.
She also spoke to Level 3 Graphic Design students about the future of graphic design, and about creating user experiences through the medium of graphic design.
The students thoroughly enjoyed getting to speak to an industry professional who gave them a great insight into the working world of graphic design, offering advice and information about pursuing a career in the industry in the future.
