GAP team awarded Gold standard!
The hard work of West Herts College’s GAP team has been officially recognised after they were accredited with Gold standard by Fair Train, the creator and owner of the national Work Experience Quality Standard.
The Work Experience Quality Standard is a national accreditation, which recognises those organisations offering high quality work experience opportunities to their learners. It also acts as a framework for development to help organisations to plan, run and evaluate high quality work experience programmes.
GAP is West Herts College’s sector-leading work experience programme, where students team up with local employers to develop their transferable workplace skills and help them get ready for the world of work.
Sue Hill, Head of Student Employability and Progression, said: “West Herts College are proud to be awarded with Gold standard accreditation from Fair Train. This recognises the bespoke work experience opportunities that are well matched with students’ abilities and future career aspirations, which prepare them for their future progression whether it be University, Apprenticeships or the world of work.
“Our GAP programme fully utilises our connections with a wide range of corporate, community and charitable employers, enabling our young people to participate in outstanding personalised opportunities and experiences. The skills developed through their engagement in this highly successful programme of study really sets them aside from their peers around employability, but also builds self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience which are vital for working life.”
