Engineering students treated to employer talk!
Engineering students at our Kings Langley campus were treated to an employer talk from Poise Group UK, who gave an insight to the civil engineering industry. Poise is based in London and have engineers in numerous fields who focus on completing efficient, safe and economically viable projects.
After a detailed talk, students were eager to ask questions and engage with Electrical Engineers Shruti Shah and Thanga Siva from Poise. Shruti thoroughly enjoyed passing on her knowledge and experience. She said: “It’s great for students who may be unsure about their future careers because we can answer their questions and help them gain some insight to what the industry entails, which is an option I never had at university.”

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Civil Engineering students, Eleanor Jackson and Will Stubbs, have been accepted onto an internship programme with Poise, which will provide a great experience for their career aspirations in engineering.
Will said: “My interest in engineering came from looking at buildings, roadways and observing how the world works, which has always fascinated me. The talk today has given me a much better idea of what we’ll be doing on our internship and it has left me excited thinking about my future career in engineering.”
Fellow student Eleanor, said: “The internship at Poise seems like the perfect fit for me. I hope to learn a lot and develop on the skills I’ve already gained from my studies at West Herts College.”

This work placement will be an exciting GAP experience for Will and Eleanor. GAP is West Herts College’s sector-leading work experience programme, where students team up with local employers to develop their transferable workplace skills and help them get ready for the world of work.
Poise Engineer Thanga, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Eleanor and Will to the team for their GAP placement. It’ll be beneficial for both them and Poise so we can’t wait to get them started!”
