Dragon's Apprentice Challenge Awards Ceremony
The Challenge involves matching a team of young people with a local business mentor (their dragon), then a local charity or community group. The teams are then tasked with turning £100 into £1000 or more for their designated charity or community organisation, through creating sustainable business models, engaging with their target audiences, developing links within the local community and managing all aspects of their business.
The two Level 3 Business teams from West Herts were Team Miracle Makers with their Dragon, Holly Davies (Jurys Inn) and Team Ingenious Geniuses with their Dragon, Councillor Rabi Martins (Watford Borough Council). Team Miracle Makers generated a commendable £1293.90 for local charity The Steve Sinnott Foundation, whilst Team Ingenious Geniuses delivered an outstanding £2284.61 for Herts Inclusive Theatre. Find out more about their fundraising efforts here.
A panel of judges, including Watford & Three Rivers Trust, U.D Salon, Think About It Films and Freedom Communications, judged the teams on a number of awards and achievements, with Team Ingenious Geniuses coming away with three awards for their exceptional efforts and accomplishments:
- 'Best Narrative and Presentation'
- 'Overall Winning Team'
- 'Outstanding Individual Contribution': Millie Brady (Project Manager)
Both teams managed to successfully complete their challenge, doing so with professionalism, creativity and a drive to succeed.
