Course spotlight: Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
Who is this course for?
If you want to progress onto Higher Education to study art, design or a related subject, this course is perfect for you. Most students progressing onto this qualification will have already completely A-Levels or a Level 3 Extended Diploma in a related subject.
The course is recognised across the UK as the primary entry route to the best courses at the most prestigious universities.
This is a UAL Awarding Body-approved course. UAL Awarding Body only approves institutions to deliver this qualification if they are able to demonstrate significant expertise in and commitment to creative arts education.
What will I study?
This one-year course emphasises a broad, experimental approach and covers the following subject areas:
- Drawing and painting
- Sculpture and 3D design
- Photography and moving image
- Graphic Design
Having agreed your specialism, a written proposal will form the basis of your final project.
You’ll also benefit from trips to galleries and museums, as well as a week away in a major European city to feed your creative insights.
What can I do next?
Most students choose to progress onto further education in art and design specialisms either with a Foundation degree at West Herts College or an Honours degree at a prestigious university. Career options include the fields of design, applied arts, art education or freelancing.
