College Student earns another GB call up
After representing the U20 team at the World Championships, BTEC Level 3 student Edward Knaggs has been named in the Great Britain U18 team, which will compete in the Ice Hockey World Junior Championships in Romania in April.
Edward, who plays domestically for Milton Keynes Lightning, successfully finished 3rd with the GB team at the U20 World Championships. There they recorded victories over Slovenia, Ukraine and the hosts of the tournament France.
He has now been rewarded for his efforts with another international call up, this time for the U18 team due to compete at the World Junior Championships held in Romania.
Milton Keynes Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell congratulated Edward, saying: "It's quite an honour to be picked for two World Championships in one season, but Ed's earned this with his performances. He doesn't let the pressure of big games get to him, he's confident on the puck and shows a great deal of intelligence in his play. We are all very proud of him, and will be following his and the team's progress with interest!"
The GB team will complete in division 2A and will face hosts Romania, along with Croatia, Lithuania, Netherlands and Poland from 4-10 April.
