Class of 2019 Graduation Ceremony

Class of 2019 Graduation Ceremony

West Herts College held their annual Graduation ceremony, celebrating the fantastic achievements of their Foundation degree, HND and CIPD students.

Following the college’s merge with Barnfield College, this was the first year Barnfield students joined the ceremony. Kaia Burrows, HND Music graduate said “Collaborating with Barnfield College to celebrate our achievements together was a lovely. I had such a great time talking to people, finding out what course they were graduating from, wearing the gowns and having lots of pictures taken.”

Students from across 29 courses collected their certificates in front of cheering friends and family at the ceremony hosted at Watford Colosseum.

The sun was shining as graduates arrived to enjoy an afternoon of true celebration. Donning their caps and gowns, graduates posed for photography and enjoyed a well-deserved celebratory drink. Whilst this was going on, refreshments were served to everyone attending the ceremony and entertainment was provided by the Ealing String Quartet.

Proceedings commenced with an introduction from West Herts College’s Head of Curriculum, Scott Gray, who welcomed special guests, Chair of the Hemel Hempstead Business Ambassadors, Jean McLeish and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Education and Student Experience at the University of Hertfordshire, Sal Jarvis.

West Herts College’s Principal and Chief Executive Gill Worgan gave the keynote speech, saying: “As I look around today, I see people with enormous promise, and with wonderful opportunities ahead of them. Don’t underestimate what you have achieved. We are immensely proud and wish you every success for the future.”

Antony Burton, Foundation Degree Graphic Design graduate added "The graduation was a special occasion celebrating a life changing achievement with friends and family. The ceremony itself was highly organised and a wonderful event, it was the perfect end to two years of hard work."

Head of School for Art and Design Brett Clarke, who witnessed his students graduate said: “I was incredibly proud to see so many students graduating from West Herts College. The college offers a rich and diverse range of higher education courses and Friday offered a great opportunity for students, parents and lecturers to look back and celebrate the hard work and dedication our graduates have shown throughout their time with us. It was wonderful to hear that so many students have secured opportunities within their intended industries and are well on the way to fantastic careers.”

Congratulations to the class of 2019!
