'Class of 2018' Graduation Ceremony

West Herts College held their annual Graduation ceremony, celebrating the fantastic achievements of their Foundation degree, Extended degree, HND and CIPD students.

Just shy of 200 students from across 22 courses collected their certificates in front of cheering friends and family at the ceremony hosted at Watford Colosseum.

The sun was shining as graduates arrived to enjoy an afternoon of true celebration. Donning their caps and gowns, graduates posed for photography and enjoyed a well-deserved celebratory drink. Whilst this was going on, refreshments were served to everyone attending the ceremony and entertainment was provided by the Ealing String Quartet.

Proceedings commenced with an introduction from the College’s Deputy Principal, Cath Gunn who welcomed the special guests including, the Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor and Sal Jarvis, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Education and Student Experience at the University of Hertfordshire, the validating body for our higher education degree qualifications.

College Principal Gill Worgan gave the keynote speech, saying: “As I look around today, I see people with enormous promise, and with wonderful opportunities ahead of them. Don’t underestimate what you have achieved. We are immensely proud and wish you every success for the future.”

Alexander Bright, HND in Public Services graduate spoke about his time at West Herts College: “It’s such a great feeling to be graduating. West Herts College is one of the best colleges out there and I’ve made friends for life along the way. The tutors are amazing and the content is exactly what is needed to help get you into the uniformed services.”

Business lecturer Chandra Tester, who witnessed her students graduate said: “What a lovely ceremony and an incredibly proud moment to be witness to students you have seen develop, and achieve something for themselves. To meet the parents and be part of sharing the moment where friends and family can celebrate in that student’s success was absolutely fantastic!”
