Civil Engineering students visited by Health and Safety Executive
Level 3 Civil Engineering students were recently visited by a Health and Safety Executive from the Institution of Civil Engineers, who gave them an insight into his day-to-day working life and the career path. They began the session by watching a video of a real life ceiling collapse in Watford, highlighting the importance of health and safety in a civil engineering environment. The talk consisted of an introduction to health and safety itself, followed by a look at the history of health and safety, the role of the Health and Safety Executive and some case studies.
The talk was a fantastic experience for the students, giving them the opportunity to meet and talk to someone working in the engineering industry and reminding them just how important health and safety is in the workplace.
